Composer

How it works

Composer compiles natural-language ideas into a typed ProductSpec, picks a blueprint, generates a complete Next.js + TypeScript repo, and runs quality gates. The orchestration is easy; taste is the moat.

MVP 0 — Foundation

Composer is at MVP 0. The headline promise — type a sentence, get a live URL — is not yet honored. Today you get a deployable Next.js repo on the server's filesystem; you copy it and vercel deploy yourself.

Read status.md for the brutal inventory and roadmap.md for the 8-release plan to GA.

Pipeline

  1. 1

    Spec compilation

The LLM emits a typed ProductSpec — its only job. A heuristic fallback runs when no API key is set, so the Composer always returns something.

  2. 2

    Blueprint match

Each blueprint scores the spec. Highest viable score wins; ties broken by registration order.

  3. 3

    Code emission

Blueprints are pure TypeScript factory functions — generate(spec, ctx) → BlueprintFile[]. No template strings, no handlebars; everything is type-checked at compile time.

  4. 4

    Persistence

Files are written to a temp directory (or a path you pass via --out).

  5. 5

    Quality gates

Default gates: structure, json, tsx-syntax. Strict mode adds typecheck + tests.

Blueprints

crud-saassaascrud

Standard SaaS skeleton with an in-memory store, list/detail pages per entity, and a polished landing page.

agentic-chatagentanthropic

Streaming Claude-backed chat assistant with a system prompt anchored on the spec.

dashboarddashboardtelemetry

Operational dashboard with stat cards, telemetry tab, and a synthetic /api/stats.

CLI

# default — heuristic compile, fast gates
npx composer build "an AI tutor for high school chemistry"

# strict — runs typecheck + tests in the generated repo
npx composer build "..." --strict

# pin output dir
npx composer build "..." --out ./my-app

# force heuristic even when ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is set
npx composer build "..." --no-llm

What's not (yet) automated

  • • Auto-deploy to your Vercel account — generated repos include deploy instructions; run them locally.
  • • Database provisioning — generated apps use an in-memory store; swap for Prisma + Postgres before relying on persistence.
  • • Custom blueprint marketplace — for now, blueprints ship in this repo; PRs welcome.

Source

Composer is open source. Try a build, then read the source — every blueprint is one TypeScript file. GitHub
